School and Industry Leaders’ Forums

School and Industry Leaders’ Forums encourage school leaders, local industry and business representatives to work together to strengthen career education in schools.

The forums aim to:

  • build a common understanding among industry, business, school and career professionals of the aims and expectations of career education in Australian schools
  • develop locally suitable approaches to promote career education in schools
  • support cultural and organisational changes in schools and communities that are needed for effective career education services.
  • Partnerships between school, industry and business are a valuable way of ensuring that young people are getting access to the support and advice they need for their career development.

Principals and career advisers play a vital role in the delivery of career education in schools. Good career education programs help young people to: understand themselves, the world of work and how best to turn their aspirations into reality; and identify education, training and employment pathways at school and beyond.

Through Career Advice Australia, selected Local Community Partnerships will be funded to arrange and manage forums within their region. To find out more contact your Local Community Partnership.
