Local Community Partnerships

Local Community Partnerships are incorporated not-for-profit community-based organisations that work closely with schools to help all 13 to 19-year-olds to gain skills, experience and guidance as they move through and beyond school.

In previous years, Local Community Partnerships worked with many Australian schools to support secondary students as they undertook work experience activities in local industries. Under the Career Advice Australia initiative, Local Community Partnerships have been extended to national coverage and will support all Australian schools to provide career development and transition support.

To achieve this, Local Community Partnerships establish contact with important groups within the local community. They form partnerships with local industry groups, businesses and employers, schools, professional career advisers, community organisations, parents, young people, youth service providers and other government agencies, and encourage these groups to work together to facilitate the following programs.

Under the Career Advice Australia initiative, 213 Local Community Partnership regions have been set up across Australia to ensure that all young people are getting the support they need.
