Safety and Mental Health
The Australian Government is committed to protecting children from harm and promoting their wellbeing. Before they can deliver services to young people, all Youth Pathways personnel undergo an Australian Federal Police criminal history check that fully discloses any charges or convictions against them.
In the 2006 Budget, the Australian Government committed $1.9 billion over five years to improve access to mental health services and provide additional support to people with mental illness, their families and their carers. Youth Pathways staff will also receive mental health training, so they are better equipped to support young people facing mental health issues.
